Translation of the letters to the dead and other texts related to the conception of afterlife in ancient Egypt.

Translation of the letters to the dead and other texts related to the conception of afterlife in ancient Egypt.
Pyramids erected to the sky, tombs dug in the depths of the earth, coffins, mummies, book of the dead and funeral rituals are the origin of the idea that Egypt was the closest of the entrance to the world of the dead. But behind this Egypt hides a society of ordinary people who, if did not find space in the theological discussions, on the other hand lived on concrete and daily things like bread to eat or money to live.
These people used to write to their dead to obtain material goods, about money, inheritance, theft, disease, betrayal … They were irreverent letters that were placed on the tombs and aimed to shake the dead from his eternal sleep.
In this anthology edited by Gianluca Miniaci, in addition to letters of this type, are collected and commented other texts about ghosts, deaths and spirits, formulas of protection and methods to repel ghosts and also a story in which the anonymous author wonders about the real continuation of life beyond death.
