Yaser Mahmoud Hussein Abouzid

Mr. Yaser Mahmoud Hussein Abouzid received his BA in Egyptology from South Valley University (Egypt) in 2000 and his MA from Alexandria University in 2013.
He is currently working towards his Ph.D. on “The Local Cemeteries of Upper Egypt in the Proto- and Early Dynastic Period (3300-2700 bc): a New Cemetery at South Abydos within its Regional Context”.
Mr. Hussein began as an Antiquities Inspector with the SCA (Abydos) in 2000. In 2004 he became an Antiquities Inspector within the Head Section of the Information Center, SCA (Cairo). He received an EES Centenary Award to continue his excavations in the Early Dynastic Cemetery at South Abydos, for which he has been the Field Director since 2008. Since 2016 he has been the Director of the Ministry Department “Scientific Centre for Archaeological Training” (SCAT) in Upper Egypt, the goal of which is to provide training in all areas of archaeological work for Egyptian Inspectors.
